1:1 Emotional Wellbeing Support

1:1 Emotional Wellbeing Support

How it works
1:1 Emotional Wellbeing Support takes place weekly in a calm, consistent space within school. Sessions are gentle, child‑led and relational, giving pupils time to explore feelings at a pace that feels safe for them. The work is delivered as a 12‑week programme, offering a clear beginning, middle and end that helps pupils feel held, contained and supported throughout. Sessions range from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the child’s age, needs and emotional capacity that day.

Sessions draw on:
-
Bespoke relational support
-
Creative therapeutic elements such as drawing, metaphor, reflective activities and grounding tools
This blend helps pupils make sense of their feelings, develop emotional language and build personalised strategies they can use across all areas of life. The aim is to help children feel more grounded, confident and understood wherever they are.
Who benefits?
This support is particularly helpful for pupils who are anxious, overwhelmed, withdrawn or finding school life difficult, and for children who are not yet ready for group work due to low confidence, sensory needs or social anxiety. It is especially suited to pupils with neurodivergent profiles, including those who need a slower pace, reduced demands or a highly-attuned relational approach.

1:1 Emotional Wellbeing Support offers a safe, consistent space where children can explore feelings privately, without the pressure of peers. It supports pupils experiencing friendship challenges, family changes, bereavement, Emotion‑Based School Avoidance (EBSA) or difficulties expressing emotions.

The combination of ACT‑informed emotional coaching and bespoke relational support helps pupils feel understood, grounded and emotionally safer, enabling them to re‑engage with learning and daily routines at a pace that works for them.
